New Balance committed to women's racing in 2021

  • On the occasion of this 42nd edition of Marseille-Cassis, New Balance, an equipment partner since 2012, wanted to engage a 100% female "team" at the heart of the race, in order to promote women's sport
  • Nearly 18,000 male and female runners are expected in Provence on the last Sunday of October, among whom a team of eight women - athletes, personalities and journalists - will distinguish themselves by running for the benefit of the Alice Milliat Foundation, which works to promote and publicise women's sports. Each kilometre run by Aurélie Bresson, Tannissia Issad, Marine Noret, Fanny Fernandez, Marie Oheix, Anthéa Juin, Eugénie Morel and Élodie Watrin will raise €50 for the foundation. Conceived by New Balance, this initiative will bring in an endowment of €8,000, which will be used to finance a new project designed to give women's sport its rightful place.

  • Through this initiative, the world's fourth largest sports shoe brand wishes to draw attention to the growing presence of women, albeit still lower than that of men, in sport in general and running in particular. This trend can be seen in the Marseille-Cassis race, where 13% of runners were women in 1990, compared to 33% today.

  • At the same time, running is attracting more and more women, who now represent 60% of new runners, and the positive impact of this practice on the personal and professional life of each one is no longer in question.
